The United Nations chief also urged the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration to quickly bring the evil perpetrators to justice in order to serve as a deterrent to other members of the terrorist group.

Strongly condemning what he termed “the brutal slaying on Tuesday of dozens of students at a college in north-eastern Nigeria” on Wednesday, Mr. Ban Ki-moon said that he hoped that the hope that the perpetrators will be swiftly brought to justice.

It would be recalled that at least 29 teenage boys reportedly died in the attack by unidentified gunmen on the Federal Government College of Buni Yadi in Yobe state.

The region has been prone to attacks by Islamic militants who have in the past targeted civilians, including students and worshippers, politicians, members of Government institutions and foreign nationals.
